Transport of animals

The conditions for accepting an animal for transportation:

1. Valid vaccination;

2. A passport (issued by a vet, including a description of: coloration, race, gender, the number of a microchip or a tattoo);

3. A health certificate (clinical examination, dewarming, tick treatment);

4. A microchip implant (if transported as cargo in the overhead storage cabinet).

Bear in mind that the above documents should comply with the regulations of the country of departure, the country of destination and transit ports. They should be issued within 48 hours prior to the departure.

Animals need to be at least 3 months old. The last vaccination against rabies should have been done at least 21 days before the scheduled shipping date.

NOTE! When transporting animals to the U.S., a 30-day quarantine following the last vaccination against rabies applies.

The animals have to be transported in specially adapted transporters. The requirements for transporers are defined by the IATA Live Animals Regulations. Keep in mind that a transporter:

– Shall be large enough for the animal to easily stand up, lie down and turn around;

– It should be clean, tight and closed, and its ground should be lined with an absorbant material;

– It should be labelled with a special label and relevant instructions (regarding the way you should handle the animal);

– It should contain water and food containers;

– It should be ventilated at least on three sides;

– It should be made of glass fibre, metal, rigid plastic, metal mesh, solid wood or plywood, and should have no wheels attached (please remove them during a check-in);

– NOTE! The cage must not be fully made of a welded mesh or a wire mesh – these cages are not suitable for air transport.

The safest option is to buy an attested transporter. In Poland, you can buy them in select pet stores.
