CE certificate – Is certification without manufacturer’s involvement possible?

Today, you can find out more about the possibility of importing products to Poland when the manufacturer cannot attach a CE certificate to them. Do you need, in such a case, to resign from importing a product? Not necessarily.

We have already covered CE certification before and you can read more about that here (CE Certificate). Today, you can find out more about the possibility of importing products to Poland when the manufacturer cannot attach a CE certificate to them. Do you need, in such a case, to resign from importing a product? Not necessarily.

Although the CE certificate does not apply to each and every product, one cannot bypass the regulations for certain products, including machines, electrical equipment, household appliances, audio/video devices, mobile phones and toys. But what can you do if the manufacturer/seller does not want or cannot help you with the affixing of the CE mark? A declaration on the CE compliance can be issued by Polish agencies. In order not to get disappointed during customs clearance while importing a given device (when verifying regulatory compliance might prove very costly or impossible), you should check things beforehand – before your products are shipped.

What will you need? The majority of devices differ from one another but they share one principle: you need to provide as much information as possible. This might include:

  1.        A product link;
  2.        Photos of each side of the device (including the nameplate if available);
  3.        Material safety data sheet;
  4.        User manual.

With all of the data above, it will be easier to dispel any doubt and commission services needed to fulfill relevant requirements.
